Fast, Smart Power for Life on the Road
If you spend time travelling Ireland — in a campervan, mobile workshop, or heading to remote sites — you already know that standard 12 V vehicle charging is painfully slow.
Alternator chargers are changing that.
They tap into your vehicle’s alternator to deliver hundreds of watts of clean DC power directly to your portable power station — safely, while you drive.
No idling. No waiting around. Just charge as you go.
Why Alternator Charging Matters
Traditional car charging ports (cigarette lighter sockets) usually max out at 100–120 W. That means a 2,000 Wh power station could take 15 hours or more to fully charge from your vehicle.
Modern alternator chargers now deliver 500–800 W or more — enough to recharge large power stations like the EcoFlow DELTA or Bluetti AC200 series in under two hours while driving.
They’re ideal for:
- Campervans & motorhomes
- Trades & site work vans
- Mobile content creators, journalists & off-grid pros
- Home backup users who travel between sites
EcoFlow 500 W Alternator Charger — Practical Power On the Road
The EcoFlow 500 W Alternator Charger lets you charge your portable power station while driving — safely and far faster than a standard 12 V socket.
It draws regulated DC power directly from your vehicle’s alternator and converts it to a clean 40–60 V DC output (up to 500 W) — enough to refill a mid-sized unit such as a DELTA 3 or DELTA 2 Max in just a few hours.
What makes it stand out is its smart voltage sensing (it shuts off automatically when the engine stops), built-in protection circuitry, and compatibility with both 12 V and 24 V vehicles.
Although designed for the EcoFlow range, the charger’s regulated 40–60 V output means it can also top up other brands’ stations — provided their DC or solar input accepts that voltage range.
That includes many Bluetti AC200-series models, the Anker 767 (SOLIX F2000), and similar systems.
Low-voltage units such as EB3A or EB55 are not compatible.
Tip: Always check your power station’s DC/PV input range (look for “40–60 V” in the specs) and use correctly rated cables.
Professional installation is strongly recommended — this device connects to your vehicle’s electrical system and can draw high current.
EcoFlow Alternator Charger (500 W & 800 W)
EcoFlow’s Alternator Charger is now available in Ireland in two versions:
| Model | Power | Suitable For | Notes |

| 800 W | Up to 800 W | DELTA Series / DELTA Pro | Fastest vehicle charger available |
Drive, arrive, and your station’s ready — no idling, no fumes, no waiting.

Safety & Installation Notes
Alternator chargers connect directly to your vehicle’s electrical system, so professional installation is strongly recommended.
Improper wiring can damage your alternator, starter battery, or power station.
At Off Your Grid, we always advise:
- Have the unit fitted by a qualified auto electrician or campervan specialist.
- Use appropriately rated fuses, cables, and connectors.
- Never install or modify wiring while the engine is running.
- Always follow the manufacturer’s installation manual and voltage guidelines (12 V or 24 V).
Choosing the Right Setup
When selecting an alternator charger, consider:
-
Power rating — match output to your station’s max DC input
-
Vehicle type — 12 V vs 24 V systems
-
Cable runs — short, heavy-gauge wiring is best
-
Compatibility — check your brand’s approved accessory list
